Welcome to the Gary Jordan for Iowa House campaign web site.

I am a Republican seeking the District 65 seat in the Iowa House. I'm a man who loves to build and create and I enjoy being able to look back and see the evidence of my labor. As a retired carpenter I have helped to build Des Moines and the state of Iowa, both physically and financially, by applying my trade skills, my knowledge, and by being an honest tax-paying citizen.

I'm a man who takes my freedom seriously; not just my freedom but the freedom of future generations. Freedom can be measured by the number of choices we have. The higher our taxes are, the less money we have. Less money means fewer choices. Fewer choices result in less freedom.

Our state legislators have outspent Iowa's revenue by 20%. How long can we sustain this rate of spending? How will this impact the freedom and future of our children and grandchildren?

My ideas to attain financial stability in Iowa are simple: cut spending, save money, and limit the size and cost of government.

I care about the future of Iowa's citizens. Here is how you can count on me to vote on the following issues facing us today:

Right to Life
Life is precious and should be protected from conception until natural death.

Traditional Marriage/Family Values
Marriage is between one man and one woman.

Budget
Use a common sense approach to balance our budget and stop out-of-control spending and waste. Don't spend more money than we bring in.

Education
Decisions on education should be returned to parents and the local community, allowing us to provide our youth with the best opportunity to acquire a superior education.

Right to Work
Affirm the right of every citizen to work for a living without being compelled to join a union.

Health Care
Allow individuals the freedom to make health care choices without being forced into government-controlled programs.

Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America

Illegal Immigration
Empower local law enforcement to uphold our current laws.

Veteran Affairs/Present Military
Honor and support our past and present military people who have and are guarding our freedom.
